A research team led by the University of Edinburgh used AI to analyze coronary CT angiography (CCTA) scans and found that people with denser chest and back muscles have a lower risk of heart attack and a lower risk of death within 10 years. The findings were published in Radiology and announced by the University of Edinburgh. The observational study, partly funded by the British Heart Foundation (BHF), involved 1,722 people, mostly in their 50s, who presented with chest pain in the SCOT-HEART trial.
