Thinking Machines Labs, the AI startup founded by former OpenAI executives, has released Inkling, a 975-billion-parameter open-weight model trained to natively understand text, images, audio, and video. The model, unveiled on July 15, 2026, gives the closely watched company its first self-trained system to challenge rivals such as Anthropic and OpenAI while advancing its stated goal of decentralizing access to advanced AI.
