Smartbird, the company formerly known as sneaker brand Allbirds, has appointed former AWS executive Nadia Carlsten as CEO of its newly created AI infrastructure business — a business that still has no dedicated employees. According to TechCrunch, Carlsten, speaking shortly after taking the role, laid out a plan for an AI compute operation while acknowledging that "we're going to be recruiting a brand new team for the AI business, and we're going to be getting an office," saying she would first assemble a leadership team including a head of infrastructure operations (details).
