The White House is accelerating work on safety and technical standards for so-called "covered frontier models," with a new set of standards expected to be announced as soon as early July 2026. The effort builds on the executive order "Promoting Advanced Artificial Intelligence Innovation and Security," signed on June 2, 2026, under which the government is advancing the standard-setting process.
