Unsloth AI has announced official support for AMD hardware, allowing users to train and run large language models on Radeon, Ryzen, Instinct and data center GPUs and directly challenging the entrenched dominance of NVIDIA's CUDA ecosystem for local AI work. The move, made in collaboration with AMD, extends the popular open-source fine-tuning toolkit beyond its longstanding NVIDIA focus and positions widely available consumer AMD cards as practical platforms for on-device model training.
