Anthropic Tightens Enforcement Against Chinese Access to Claude

Anthropic is intensifying efforts to close the workarounds that let users and PRC-controlled entities in China illicitly access its Claude models, including the coding tool Claude Code, despite explicit prohibitions. The targets include proxy "transfer stations" that route API access through overseas accounts from restricted regions, use of third-party clouds such as Microsoft Azure via foreign subsidiaries in places like Singapore, corporate intranets linked to overseas entities, and VPN usage backed by expense reimbursements.
