Anthropic's coding agent "Claude Code" was found to contain code that detects proxy-based access from China and covertly embeds that information into the system prompt, according to a reverse-engineering analysis of its binary. Around June 30, 2026, a Reddit user analyzed the Claude Code binary and reported that the logic had been embedded since version 2.1.91, released on April 2, 2026.
