Apple has filed a federal lawsuit accusing OpenAI of systematically misappropriating its confidential hardware technology, a legal fight that could delay or pause OpenAI's plan to build a consumer AI device. The suit, lodged in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, names OpenAI alongside its chief hardware officer Tang Tan, a former Apple executive, former Apple senior electrical engineer Chang Liu, and the startup io Products.
