On June 16, 2026, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang visited Coherent Corp.'s facility in Sherman, Texas, joining the company's CEO Jim Anderson and Mayor Shawn Temann to mark the groundbreaking of an expansion that will grow manufacturing capacity for advanced photonics used in AI data centers. The project enhances what Coherent calls the world's first volume-ready 6-inch InP (Indium Phosphide) wafer line, lifting output of the lasers and optical components that underpin AI infrastructure. Coherent expects to receive up to $50 million in direct funding (a Letter of Intent) under the CHIPS and Science Act, combined with roughly $20 million in existing Texas state support (NVIDIA, Coherent).
