On June 30, 2026, Google made "gemini-3.1-flash-lite-image" (nicknamed Nano Banana 2 Lite), its smallest and most affordable image generation and editing model, generally available across Google AI Studio, the Gemini API, and the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform. The same day it also released Gemini Omni Flash for video generation and editing. In its announcement, Google described the model as its "fastest and cheapest Gemini Image model" and its "smallest and most cost-effective image generation and editing model, built for at-scale usage."
