On July 7, 2026 (US time), Meta rolled out Muse Image, the first image generation model built by Meta Superintelligence Labs, letting users reference photos and Reels from public Instagram accounts in AI images simply by tagging an @username in a prompt. For public accounts the feature is on by default without prior notice, sparking a debate over privacy. According to the official announcement, Muse Image is free to use inside the Instagram app (including Stories), the Meta AI app, WhatsApp and the meta.ai web.
